May 23rd is the Feast Day of Saint Evelyn. This saint appears quite recently in the hagiographic record, and is the patron of those who leave early to avoid being late. She is often invoked when dealing with family members, as in the phrase, “St. Evelyn help me, if you don’t leave by 7:15, there will be loving.” Little is known about her, but she is, for some reason, portrayed as a swan holding a pocket watch in her beak.
