On some September 16th, the clipper ship Remedial Stag sank under disputed circumstances. The only survivors were the ship's chaplain, cabin boy, and cat. It was carrying over a ton of gold and silver, but its primary cargo was an alcoholic drink made of fermented mango juice. The chaplain blamed a storm, while the cabin boy reports strange behavior of flying fish and noises below the waterline. The cat's opinion is not recorded.
The chaplain was murdered later that year. The cabin boy changed his name and never set foot on a ship again. The cat went on to hold a series of minor public offices and was buried with full honors at the military cemetery in Harper's Grove.
