Pastor Drom returns with news good and bad. Today we get the good news.

Be Safe, and Remember: You Are Alone.

Welcome to the Hidden Almanac, I'm Reverend Mord. Today is July 27th, 2018.

Drom: Hi everybody, I’m Pastor Drom! Well, Mord, I have good news and bad news.

Mord: …Of course you do.

Drom: The good news is that the Royal Ornithological Society is not going to file any complaints against us for blowing up their demoniac construct. In fact, they've agreed to pay for the flight cage! We don't get a formal apology, but that was always kind of a long shot.

Mord: How did you manage that? The representative was extremely angry. She made the sort of threats that one normally associates within with inquisitors rooting out heresy.

Drom: Mord, are you doubting my ability to be incredibly annoying?

Mord: Certainly not. Nevertheless, this seems to go beyond that. Were miracles involved?

Drom: Pfft, no. Can't use miracles for everything, it stretches the elastic. Look, Mord, it's like this. As a criminally underrated author once said: there are two great powers in the universe, the power of love and the power of mathematics. Those two are stronger than anything in the world.

Mord: Nesbit. I am familiar with her work, though intralibrary loan only occasionally extends across realities.

Drom: Right! Now, look, the trick is only yell at people who are getting paid.

Mord: I do not follow.

Drom: If you're dealing with volunteers, you're up against love. You can't fight love, Mord! Or you can but you just gotta exhaust the poor volunteers and that’s a waste of love. But, if you're yelling at people who are getting paid, then the power of mathematics is on your side because those people know to the penny how much they're making and they are absolutely, positively, not making enough to deal with me.

Mord: I see. The Hidden Almanac is brought to you by Red Wombat Resistance Company, purveyors of fine and revolutionary teas. Red Wombat --- “Fight the Power.”

Mord: Drom?

Drom: Yes?

Mord: What is the bad news?

Drom: Hoo boy.
